Like the author I am also a marathon never-ran and am training to run the waterfront in September. Given that I've been through too many aches and pains to mention I thought perhaps scaling things back a bit might be worth thinking about. Though I agree with your assessment that the author's evidence is anecdotal at best. It looks like you are quite an accomplished runner and perhaps once I'm at that level my body won't need the potentially theraputic benefits of walking breaks.
